Mary’s work experience of the last 20 years has been sharply focused in the social sciences research field. Mary earned her Master’s in Culture Studies/Rhetoric from Kansas State University, focusing on the study of culture, gender, and race/ethnicity as it related to communication theory. With this expertise, she became a research project coordinator, analyst, and technical writer focusing on community-based youth needs assessments. She quickly moved up to a Project Manager role and then a Director position, later securing certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Insights Association Professional Researcher, Certified Diversity Executive (CDE), and Kirkpatrick Evaluator. She has helped gather over a million youth surveys and has turned that data around to communities so that they can make meaningful, strategic change in youth lives.

Mary founded Lexicon & Line in 2014 to take her passion of making a difference through data collection to new industries, including private and government spheres. Over the past 10 years, L&L has been focused on using research (namely, surveys) to help businesses better connect with their employees, support diversity, equity, and inclusion teams through data-driven decision-making and rock-solid strategic plans, and build evaluation infrastructures to both understand the efficacy of current efforts and push continuous improvement to new heights.

So what does Mary do? To put it plainly, she studies a variety of people and their experiences, helps her clients build stronger connections and trust with those they serve, and saves her clients money through data-driven decision making– and she absolutely loves what she does!

When Mary is not working, she is enjoys time with her husband of 16 years, her 13-year-old son, and their three dogs in the mountains of Northern Utah.

Dana brings over 20 years of experience and a background based in the hard sciences to the L&L team.  She has led projects to develop quality solutions for companies such as Goodyear and Intel.  Her passion for finding data insights extends to teaching others how to understand and use their data, and she has taught corporate and university classes on Six Sigma, probability and statistics, operations management, and quality management.

Dana earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Kansas State University, a Master’s degree in industrial and management systems engineering from the University of Nebraska, and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering and graduate certificate in statistics from Arizona State University.  Her skill with a variety of statistical tools allows her to approach quantitative data from angles that can yield deeper discoveries for decision making.

As a kid, Dana loved reading mysteries, and she revels in playing “data detective” to uncover and reveal stories and insights.  She is proud to be part of a team that equips organizations to make meaningful changes to improve people’s lives and experiences.

From the Flint Hills in Kansas, Dana collaborates while nurturing her five children, finding comfort in soft yarn and knitting needles, spending time with friends, and sending hand-written letters to encourage those she loves.

Ariana brings a diverse background spanning education, research, public health, and project management. She has led research projects in reproductive health, consumer behavior, workplace health, and veterans’ healthcare services. Her hands-on experience in education includes teaching middle school for three years, developing a substance use prevention curriculum for high school students, and leading various workshops and classes for adult learners on topics such as data literacy.

Ariana earned her bachelor’s degree with a dual major in Anthropology and Molecular Biology from the University of Arizona and her Master’s in Public Health and Graduate Certificate in Statistics from the University of Utah. Her passion for health equity and education and her love for uncovering compelling stories within data drives her work in creating action from research. She loves being able to pull from all of her interdisciplinary experiences to inform her work as a project manager with Lexicon and Line.

Outside of work, Ariana enjoys weightlifting, reading fantasy novels, and going to live concerts with her partner.

Andy brings several years of mixed-methods research and evaluation experience from the human service and public health fields to his role as Senior Research Associate at Lexicon & Line.

In his role, Andy provides subject matter expertise, conducts data analysis and visualizations, and designs reports and presentations. Andy strives to transform data into easy-to-digest insights for stakeholders. By weaving together findings from qualitative and quantitative data, he aims to tell compelling stories that inform decision-making and inspire action. Andy’s areas of interest span violence prevention, racial and LGBTQ+ health disparities, substance abuse prevention, and initiatives that enhance implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in organizations.

During his personal time in Buffalo, Andy finds joy in cooking, exploring new cafes and restaurants, nurturing his creative writing, and embracing the role of a cat dad.

With a background in consumer-behavior, clinical, developmental, social, health, and educational psychologies, Julia has conducted research in both corporate and academic sectors. She has served market research organizations, conducted UX research for application startups, and worked as a project manager for labs at Brown University, University of Virginia, and Binghamton University; overseeing internal studies, attending national conferences, and leading journal publications. Her research background has informed other practical services she has performed, including writing for Psychology Today and health education organizations, mental health coaching and crisis counseling, lecturing at Binghamton University, and creating psychology and health curriculum for K-12 schools both domestically and internationally. 

Julia has earned a BA in Psychology and Education from Binghamton University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and with President’s Honors from the University’s Scholars (Honors) Program.

In her free time, Julia is a voice actor, enthusiastic home cook, and puzzle lover. She loves to play sports with her friends in Buffalo, NY and spend time with her partner and their 2 adorable cats.
