Mary’s work experience of the last 20 years has been sharply focused in the social sciences research field. Mary earned her Master’s in Rhetoric from Kansas State University. With this expertise, she became a research project coordinator, analyst, and technical writer focusing on community-based youth needs assessments. She quickly moved up to a Project Manager role and then a Director position, later securing certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Insights Association Professional Researcher, and Kirkpatrick Evaluator. She has helped gather over a million youth surveys and has turned that data around to communities so that they can make meaningful, strategic change in youth lives.

Mary founded Lexicon & Line in 2014 to take her passion of making a difference through data collection to new industries, including private and government spheres. Over the past 10 years, L&L has been focused on using research (namely, surveys) to help organizations and businesses better connect with their stakeholders, answer important questions, make a significant impact through data-driven decision-making and rock-solid strategic plans, and build evaluation infrastructures to both understand the efficacy of current efforts and push continuous improvement to new heights.

So what does Mary do? To put it plainly, she studies a variety of people and their experiences, helps her clients build stronger connections and trust with those they serve, and saves her clients money through data-driven decision making– and she absolutely loves what she does!

When Mary is not working, she is enjoys time with her husband of 20 years, her 13-year-old son, and their three dogs in the mountains of Northern Utah.

Dr. Katie Poppler brings expertise in qualitative research methodology, advanced statistical analysis, and social psychological research, along with a strong background in team leadership and communication. Passionate about translating human experiences into meaningful insights, she is dedicated to driving impactful change through research.

With five years of experience leading adolescent-centered research projects, Katie joins Lexicon & Line as a Research Project Manager, where she oversees studies that inform policies and programs supporting adolescents and young adults. Her work emphasizes rigorous research design, data collection, and stakeholder engagement to ensure actionable outcomes.

Katie earned her PhD in Psychological Science from Montana State University. Beyond her technical expertise, she excels in leading research teams, fostering collaboration, and building relationships with diverse stakeholder groups. She is deeply committed to creating research-driven solutions that enhance lives and expand opportunities for others.

Outside of work, Katie enjoys exploring new trails and discovering local cafés.

Dana brings over 20 years of experience and a background based in the hard sciences to the L&L team.  She has led projects to develop quality solutions for companies such as Goodyear and Intel.  Her passion for finding data insights extends to teaching others how to understand and use their data, and she has taught corporate and university classes on Six Sigma, probability and statistics, operations management, and quality management.

Dana earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Kansas State University, a Master’s degree in industrial and management systems engineering from the University of Nebraska, and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering and graduate certificate in statistics from Arizona State University.  Her skill with a variety of statistical tools allows her to approach quantitative data from angles that can yield deeper discoveries for decision making.

As a kid, Dana loved reading mysteries, and she revels in playing “data detective” to uncover and reveal stories and insights.  She is proud to be part of a team that equips organizations to make meaningful changes to improve people’s lives and experiences.

From the Flint Hills in Kansas, Dana collaborates while nurturing her five children, finding comfort in soft yarn and knitting needles, spending time with friends, and sending hand-written letters to encourage those she loves.

Andy brings several years of mixed-methods research and evaluation experience from the human service and public health fields to his role as Senior Research Associate at Lexicon & Line.

In his role, Andy provides subject matter expertise, conducts data analysis and visualizations, and designs reports and presentations. Andy strives to transform data into easy-to-digest insights for stakeholders. By weaving together findings from qualitative and quantitative data, he aims to tell compelling stories that inform decision-making and inspire action.

During his personal time in Buffalo, Andy finds joy in cooking, exploring new cafes and restaurants, nurturing his creative writing, and embracing the role of a cat dad.
